Our review… 

This book details in diary format what it’s like to work as a junior doctor in obstetrics and gynaecology during the Christmas period, over several years of holiday-unfriendly hospital shifts. By turns heart-warming (babies! Twinkly lights! Festive fun!), extremely gross (the things that people choose to insert into their bodies is fairly mind-blowing) and, at one point, completely heart breaking (there is a warning before this particular diary entry so you can skip it), Adam Kay gives the reader a peek behind the hospital curtain so that we can what it’s like to be an NHS worker during the festive season. I could probably have lived without reading the pub and pint glass story though…”
